How do I start the booking process?
To get started, please contact us using the “Contact Us!” button on the upper right-hand corner of the screen, or under the Scheduling tab. In your message, please specify as much information as possible. If you don’t know all the details yet, that’s OK!
Event date
Event type
Type of ensemble you would like to book (string quartet, string trio, string duo, or other)
Length of event
If you have any particular music requests or would like to include any other relevant or important details, please do! We will reach out and collaborate with you on your music choices. We are happy to pick the music based off of a general vibe you provide us, or we can work together. This plan will be used by the ensemble the day of the event.
What do we charge for events?
We bill a flat rate starting at up to 1.5 hours of musician time. This will include:
Consultation and event coordination with you
Administrative coordination (contacting, communicating details to musicians, and scheduling as well as finding, choosing, and organizing music for the event)
One outside rehearsal for preparation of the event
All music during the event
For events lasting longer than 1.5 hours, you will be charged for the extra time in half hour increments.
Do you play outside the Tulsa area?
Yes. Travel within a 30 mile radius of midtown Tulsa is free. Charges will begin outside of the 30 miles.
Ensemble Needs and Set-up
For coordination of any music with entrances and exits (particularly for weddings), we will need a cue person. It is best if we can clearly see the person(s) entering and exiting.
For weddings, we will need to be able to hear the officiant.
Please provide stationary, stable, armless chairs for the musicians (four for quartet, three for trio, two for duo).
Do you perform outdoors?
Yes. Keep in mind that the outdoors are subject to many variables, and stringed instruments are delicate. Wind, heat, humidity all may affect the bow, the instrument itself, the tuning, and sound. When we perform outdoors, we are are putting ourselves at the mercy of Mother Nature!
It should be noted that the quartet should typically not play in direct sunlight, and can play in temperatures between 60F and 95F.
Will you need to take breaks?
A 10-minute break is required hourly after the first 90 minutes. Playing is always a lot of fun, but it can be strenuous work, especially over an extended period of time!
Am I limited to just string instruments? Can you accompany other musicians?
Yes, we can collaborate with vocalists, an organist, pianist, or other. This may require an additional rehearsal(s) if it is not a commonly performed piece or song, for which additional charges could apply. This is to ensure that we are well prepared and so that all will go smoothly at the time of the event.
Choosing Music
If there is a specific song(s) or piece(s) that you would like performed that we do not already have access to, we may either:
Purchase the music ourselves. This allows us to determine if the arrangement is playable and meets our standards.
Have the music arranged.
Please note that purchasing of new music that is not commonly performed will require reimbursement. Additionally, having any music arranged will require extra time (at least 60 days) and will be an extra fee.
Purchasing of new music or having any music arranged typically applies to pieces that are outside of the classical repertoire. It is far easier for string quartets to obtain music that exists within the classical canon. If it is a pop piece, we are absolutely happy to accommodate; these are just the factors to consider!
